ThruGate® enables client-server connectivity where the client and the server can be located on different networks using different communications protocols. It also allows server-server and device-device connectivity with the same amazing flexibility.

Connections are handled in the most efficient and cost effective way possible. Traffic optimization, data compression, dynamic lines and connection and channel management methods are used to achieve this.

ThruGate® is particularly good for allowing wireless devices to communicate with servers running on landline based networks. Radio packet costs are reduced and throughput is increased by the use of cStar's Wireless Transport Protocol (WTP). This protocol reduces the number of radio packets sent by using packet reduction and data compression methods. It also improves reliability by applying a re-transmission algorithm to avoid packet loss.

It's easy to use and configure. Sophisticated tools are provided for configuration, maintenance and monitoring. The component-oriented architecture makes it as easy to use these tools from a remote location, as it is to use them locally.

The ThruGate® server provides internal and external channel multiplexing capabilities to allow easy expansion of system capacity, and load balancing. It also has system backup and failover capabilities to ensure system reliability in the event of an external communications or an internal system failure.

Full system management functionality is provided using a wide variety of standard network management protocols. In particular SNMP and MIB extensions are provided for all configured protocol components.

Data security is assured by our implementation of a DES/RSA based encryption algorithm using dynamic key exchange.
