CStar Extends Wireless Apps
cStar Technologies is rolling out a range of wireless
vending solutions extending to new M-Commerce and other
M2M applications.
Among these is the company's latest real-time cellphone
and credit card-enabled vending solution. cStar's stab
at the technology started with wireless management data
capture and now is completing the end-to-end methodology
for unattended point-of-sale transactions.
Consumers will overcome the problem of not having
correct change or ready cash when making purchases at
currently existing vending machines.
This technology can be applied to other unattended
point-of-sale such as parking meters and highway
tollbooths and down the road, to airline and theater
ticketing, taxi fare monitoring and eventually all
points-of-sale.
"cStar's patented proprietary technologies pave the way
to different M2M applications serving numerous business
segments and physical environments," say cStar's Stella
Yoon.
The company is also taking up a vertical application
aimed at the utility industry: utility meters that are
fitted with cStar's Wireless Local Area Network SkyGate
series III. This remote "drive-by" data retrieval system
incorporates both Wireless LAN and Wireless WAN
connectors, automating the accounting, billing and
service functions on-line and in real-time. It feeds
data into Computer Associates' Unicenter tool.
Yoon says that "cStar addresses its customers' needs by
providing a combination of industrial real-time
monitoring solutions, particularly incorporation with
the fertile ground of PDAs."
